Greetings friends and fellow Yogi’s! I’m here to guide you through and towards your own personal yoga journey. I found my way in to a yoga class while in college at AppState in 2005. It wasn’t until a few years later that I fully immersed myself in to the practice of yoga. I found that yoga is a healing practice that helped me use movement as medicine and breathe through anxiety. My passion for yoga is strong, both on and off my mat. For me, yoga is a way of living. In January of this year, after being a long time yoga practitioner, I decided it was time to deepen my own knowledge of yoga and completed my 200 hour Teacher training in May 2024. I have consistently taught Vinyasa and Deep Stretch classes since then. I am currently in the process of completing an additional 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training.
I believe yoga should be accessible and inclusive for all levels, with variations of postures demonstrated throughout class. Through teaching physical asana (postures), breathwork and meditation, I hope to give students an overall sense of self awareness on the forever journey towards the union of body and mind. I hope that you leave class feeling peaceful, fulfilled, powerful and nourished. I’ll see you on the mat!
Namaste,
Shelley

Yoga has always piqued my interest, however, due to my religious beliefs at the time I did not lean into that curiosity. It wasn’t until I experienced a traumatic break-up and was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety that I decided to follow my curiosity. As I began to embark upon my self-love, healing, and transformation journey, my therapist introduced yoga into one of my sessions as she thought that it might help coupled with the recommendation to take medicine to get me through that difficult time. I distinctly remember the cat-cow pose's motion evoking an emotional release from my body. At that moment I decided to research the benefits of yoga and was overwhelmed with all the benefits. I visited a yoga studio for a few months, and I could feel the depression and anxiety subsiding. I also noticed a change in my physical body and opted not to take medication. I discovered that yoga was my pathway to holistic healing. To gain more knowledge I completed a 200-hour YTT program at the Soulful School of Yoga, where I am currently working to complete a 300-hour YTT program.
I am excited to be a part of a community that helps balance humanity and well-being one breath at a time.
